Last year 2025 and this year 2026 Moms Demand Action has had an initiative to support securing guns in cars. We have been involved in 2025 by contacting car dealerships and requesting they post a sign stating that a gun is stolen from a car every nine minutes in the US. We received a very positive response and most of the General Managers agreed to post the sign encouraging customers to secure their guns in the cars. In 2026 we have worked with the Wilmington Chief of Police, the Superintendent of New Hanover County Schools, Rev. Clifford Barnett and Judy McKnight on creating a video discussing the importance of securing guns in cars. This video was approved and issued to the public in June, 2026. The first step is to lock your car. Second is to keep the gun secured and out of sight. Most guns are stolen from cars parked in driveways. Please keep your guns secure in cars and homes to help keep everyone safe from gun violence.

In 2024 and 2025 we worked with the County Sheriff, District Attorney and the Superintendent of New Hanover County Schools to prepare a video reviewing the importance of securing guns in the home. This video was approved and issued to the public in Oct, 2025.
