The Wilmington Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America chapter has been reenergized by chapter lead Ricardo Jensen. There have been several meetings held at the New Hanover Public Library with the last meeting on May 15, 2023 including around 40 participants. With the help of Liz Buskirk, a Be Smart presentation was given to parents of the day care facility at Harbor United Methodist Church on May 18, 2023. A tabling event was held at the Healthy Kids Festival in Empie Park on March 29, 2023, where Moms Demand Action and Be Smart materials were distributed.

There is a sit-in rally organized by Samuel Schwartz being held at the U.S. Capitol building from June 6 – 15. I plan to participate for three days of this to push for legislation banning assault weapons. Our elected representatives need to do something to help reduce the carnage we are experiencing in our country from assault weapons. Civilians have absolutely no need to have weapons designed for war. Please join us if you can for the 24 hours a day event. Come for as much as you can to support this effort.
